Artist's Comments

This is a Digital color (done with GIMP) of my favorite Anthro-Fox Pencil sketch I did back in 2003.

...As you can see, I'm quite fond of Big, Bushy Tails... =^.^= ~

The original image was on lined notebook paper, and took a good long while to clean up to my liking before I began the coloring process.

I began this project as an experiment (I am a NOOB when it comes to digital art) to see if I could colorize one of my old pencil shaded sketches [link] without sacrificing any of the sketchy detail of the original pencil. (I LOVE sketchy drawings...I'm not sure why). Many, many, many hours of trial and error ( and some fun with 'filters' ) later, this is the end result.

I can see many areas where I have alot of room to improve, but overall I'm pretty happy with it. Because I kind of stumbled into the project blindly, I ended up doing a lot of things the hard way, and as a result I think I accidentally created a sloppy, but distinctive style out of it...which is good, because I hate being a copy-cat.

Constructive criticism is welcome.

And I believe this may call for a proper introduction, and well
Don't you see, I'm the narrator, and this is just the prologue?

Thank you all for the compliments.

As fun as this was, I'm seeing alot of things that I knew I would find when I colored it. #1 is the face. I'm not sure what I did, but somehow I messed up the facial expression in the colored version.

He looked so casual and relaxed originally, but now he's ever so slightly bug-eyed looking...like he's had a bit too much caffeine or something.

I still like the Original B&W Pencil better, overall.

I think I should Re-Upload a Higher resolution version of the original, for fair comparison.

...but it's cool just the same. The Color one makes for a much more impressive looking "Featured Deviation" for my DA page anyway...

Thanks...

I think I've figured out what's wrong with the eyes, but I'm not sure how it happened. Somehow along the way, the upper eyelids got smaller, or at least harder to see...and the 'near' absence of eyelids is what is making his expression look so weird to me...I think.

Oh...and even though no one has asked, the unusual markings on his face are based off of my 'Emoticon' Avatars, (or "Avicons" as I like to call them). ...why I colored my Avicons that way, I don't quite remember...

Too cool! I love the detailing on the tail. : )

Legs seem a wee bit off--maybe his left one should be forward a little more? Not sure.

Great work.
